Fit testing involves preforming test motions similar to movements you will do when shopping and or wearing your mask. Fit testing helps make you aware of air gaps and reduce mask movement and thus makes a snugger fit. This in turn makes wearing the mask more comfortable and increases your chances of not touching your mask to make adjustments whilst in use.
  • Wash hands.
  • Put on mask.
  • If you have a nose strip to pinch, do so, shape it by pressing to face.
  • Turn your head from side to side and up and down.
  • Practise talking and walking.
  • If you find the mask is moving adjust mask size or elastic and repeat test.
  • Once confident that mask is fitting snuggly, test is complete.
  • Wash hands.

Carry out a fit test with clean hands every time you put on your mask.

Wearing a homemade mask can help reduce the spread of the virus in conjuntion with hand washing and social distancing.
